Job Goal:
To provide high quality, nutritious food service to SLP students, staff, and others within an assigned school kitchen.
Qualifications (minimum education, licensure, skills, and/or experience):
- Completion of the ninth grade.
- Minimum of one (1) year of food service experience preferred.
- Must be able to obtain ServSafe training certification.
- Satisfactory completion of Red Cross First Aid Course including CPR within 60 days of employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work in an assigned school kitchen to efficiently prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with established school kitchen procedures and consistent with Board policy, mandated nutritional and dietary requirements, and state and federal regulations.
- Prepare food according to the planned menu and follow recipes and/or instructions accurately to ensure proper nutritional content and cost effectiveness.
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure thorough heating as required for consumer safety.
- Operate food service equipment in a safe and skillful manner and report any malfunctions, incidents, or maintenance issues as appropriate.
- Set up food service lines for mealtimes and serve food in appropriate portions and quantities per individual in a cordial and professional manner.
- Maintain orderly, safe, and sanitary food preparation, service, and storage areas; clean and sanitize all food service equipment, tools, dishes, trays, cookware, utensils, serving vessels, etc. according to established regulations.
- Follow proper procedures related to stocking, storing, and disposing of USDA commodities, supplies, and other items.
- Participate in a variety of approved training sessions and activities to address professional learning needs.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.
Physical Demands:
- Lift and carry cans, bowls, pans, and cases up to 25 pounds
- Lift cans, bowls, pans, and cases up to 50 pounds with assistance
- Stand or walk up to 7 ½ hours per day
- Push or pull equipment such as food carts and mop buckets
- Reach above head
- Bend and squat when lifting
- This position is exposed to environmental and temperature extremes, chemicals, and odor.
Terms of Employment: 180 days 7.5 hours per day (Salary in accordance with current salary schedule)
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel (Bulletin 130).
