Job Goal: 

To assist the principal in working with teachers, parents, and students in achieving the mission and vision of the school. This role assists and supports the principal with the overall day to day operations of the school.  Support can include but is not limited to the following areas:  facility management, curriculum and instruction, teacher observations, testing administration, school improvement activity, transportation, family and community engagement, student and staff supervision, coordination of co-curricular and extracurricular activity, data analysis and dissemination, scheduling, school building level committees, 504/special education compliance, student discipline, and professional development.

 

 

Qualifications (minimum education, licensure, skills, and/or experience):   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The assistant principal serves as an assistant to the principal and like the principal, implements and models the Louisiana Administrative Code’s Professional Standards for Educational Leaders and the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET) Principal Standards Rubric (SEE PRINCIPAL JOB DESCRIPTION).  The duties and responsibilities of the assistant principal may vary from school to school within the district due to size of the school, assigned teaching responsibilities, and local decision making by the assigned school principal.
